Questions, bugs, or ideas — we're happy to help.

Write to support@priet.us. We answer as soon as we can. It helps to include your device and iOS version, the operation you were running, the format of the images and the message the app showed.

Requirements

Eikon runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later. It needs no internet connection and no account.

Using the app

Add images with Photos or Files, pick an operation (Convert, Resize, Compress, Clean or Animate), adjust its settings and tap the big button. Results appear below with their size before and after. From there, share them, save them to Photos, or save them to a folder in Files.

Frequently asked questions

Where did my results go?

Wherever you chose under Save to…. Photos adds them to your library; Eikon folder in Files puts them in the Files app under On My iPhone › Eikon; Choose a folder… lets you pick any location, including iCloud Drive. Nothing is saved until you choose.

Eikon is not in the share sheet.

In the share sheet, scroll the row of apps to the end, tap More and add Eikon to your favourites. It appears whenever images are being shared, from Photos, Files, Safari and most other apps, for up to 20 images at a time. Animate is only available in the app itself.

How do I make a GIF from a video?

Tap Animate, then Photos and pick a video (or Video file for one in Files). Trim the clip with the two sliders, choose the frame rate and the longest side, and tap Create GIF. To animate photos instead, add two or more photos with Animate selected and no video loaded.

My GIF is too big to send.

GIF is an old format: a clip filmed handheld, where every pixel changes, can weigh several megabytes. When a GIF passes 3 MB Eikon suggests the change that helps most and redoes it with one tap: a longest side of 320 px, then 6 frames per second, then turning off smooth gradients. With Pro, the same clip as MP4 or animated WebP is many times smaller.

What does Pro unlock, and how do I restore it?

Pro is a one-time purchase. It unlocks processing more than one image per run, the Shortcuts actions, AVIF and WebP output, and the rest of Animate: photo series, clips longer than five seconds, animated WebP and MP4. Everything else is free, including video to GIF up to five seconds, at full quality and without watermarks. If you reinstall the app or switch devices, tap Pro and then Restore Purchases. Pro can be shared with your Family Sharing group.

A Shortcuts action says it needs Pro.

The four actions, Convert Image, Resize Image, Compress Image and Remove Image Metadata, are part of Pro. Open Eikon, tap Pro and unlock or restore it; the actions work immediately afterwards.

What exactly does Clean remove?

GPS location, camera make and model, lens, capture dates, software tags, editing history and any other EXIF, IPTC or XMP data. The orientation is kept so the picture still displays upright. JPEG and HEIC files are rewritten without recompressing the pixels; other formats are re-encoded, losslessly where the format allows it.

Compress could not reach the size I asked for.

Eikon first lowers the quality; if that is not enough it reduces the dimensions, but only when Allow downscaling is on. With it off, very small targets can be impossible for large images. PNG and other lossless formats have no quality setting, so they only get smaller by downscaling or by choosing a lossy output format.

My JPG came out larger than the HEIC I started with.

That is normal. HEIC compresses far better than JPEG at the same quality. Lower the quality slider, or use Compress with a size limit instead of Convert.

Can Eikon write WebP or JPEG XL?

WebP, yes, still and animated, with Pro; quality 100% makes it lossless. JPEG XL is read and can be converted to any other format, but not written. AVIF output is available on recent versions of iOS; on older ones it is not offered.

Does Resize make images bigger?

No. Longest side, width, height and fit all cap the size and never upscale. Percentages above 100 are the only way to enlarge, and are rarely a good idea.

What happens to animated GIFs I convert or compress?

Convert, Resize, Compress and Clean work on the first frame only. To make an animation, use Animate.

Does the app send my images anywhere?

No. Everything happens on your device and the app makes no network requests of its own. See the Privacy Policy.
